Coach Jacob Lumbang has been coaching for DCD since 2019 as an Age Group Coach and an Assistant Senior Coach. He was also a swim instructor for Fog Swimming Team from 2016 - 2019 and competitively swam from 2012 - 2019 with multiple teams in DCD, FOG, and BAC. During his time at DCD, Coach Jacob has coached swimmers who have competed at Junior Olympics, Far Westerns, Zone All Stars, Western Zones, and Sectionals with athletes becoming Junior Olympic and Far Western finalist and medalist and ranking top 10 in Zone 1 North and top 30 in Pacific Swimming in their respective age group. Most recently, Coach Jacob was part of the Zone All Star Coaching staff in 2023, leading Zone 1 to a 2nd Place finish at Zone All Star Championships.

His swimming career began in his early years at the age of 2 and joined his first ever local swim team in Manila, Philippines. Coming over to the USA, it wasn't until after a 6 year hiatus where he would come back to the sport of swimming. He would go on to compete in numerous types of competitions in those 7 years such as Junior Olympics, Far Westerns, Speedo Sectionals, Speedo Futures, and Central Coast Section. He still owns 6 out of 8 high school records for Oceana High School and owns the all-time PAL Ocean Division 100 Breast record, making finals for Central Coast Sections every year during his high school years. He also achieved the 2019 Outstanding Student-Athlete award from the following: City of Pacifica, San Mateo County, U.S. Congress, California State Assembly, and California State Senate during his senior year of high school.

Jacob's coaching philosophy focuses primarily on stroke specificity building around the following foundations: training with a purpose in different variations of intensities, developing technique from beginner to the technical level, and building a powerful foundation physically and mentally. He believes in cultivating swimmers to the best of their capabilities as athletes, students, and as people. "My goal is to provide my full support for my athletes goals whether it is to enjoy the sport of swimming in itself or to become a collegiate athlete, and/or any goal they desire".

Coach Jacob recently graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise and Movement Science during the Fall 2022 school year.
